Every family has their own recipe for Beef Stroganoff. This is mine.
We have this about every other week. I usually try to space things out a bit more than that but the first time I made this The Hub put his foot down and demanded that we have this weekly. We compromised with every other. This is the one of the few recipes that Special K cleans her plate and asks for seconds on.
1lb of Ground Beef- I use 93/7% but you can use what you want. You can also sub Turkey or Stew Beef.
1 Medium Onion, sliced and diced
2 Tsp Garlic Powder
1 Packet of Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix
1 Medium Size Daisy Sour Cream
1 Tbs Flour
1 Tbs Lawrys Season Salt
1 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Milk
Start by browning your meat in a large skillet. Once it’s done, drain it.
While your meat is draining, throw the onion in the Skillet. Stir them around with the Garlic Powder and let them caramelize*
While the onions are cooking and your beef is draining, mix the Soup Mix and Flour with 1 cup of water
Mix all the goodness together and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. The liquid will cook down a bit during this process.
Add your sour cream and give it a good stir. Add some salt to taste.
I serve my Stroganoff over Egg Noodles and garnish with Parmesan Cheese.
Of course, you have to have your veggies with every meal and I am a firm believer that the only veg that should ever be served with Stroganoff is Green Beans.
“Beans, Beans, the magical fruit, the more you eat the more you toot, the more you toot, the better you feel so let’s have beans for every meal! ” K can’t resist singing the song.
That’s it. Enjoy!
Sadly, that is not my pic up there. We ate all of it before I had the presence of mind to take a pic. It was so good.
